Souvenir Cups
Jun 29, 2003Another day, another update. I finally added the Souvenir Cup Collection to the Special Features area of the site. I still have Carowinds, Six Flags America and a Six Flags Over Georgia update in the wings so keep an eye out for those. That’s all for this one.
Going Digital
Jun 28, 2003I mentioned in the last update that I got a new camera. Why a new camera? Thank Jeff and Walt of Pointbuzz fame for “persuading” me in the latest film vs digital debate on the Coasterbuzz forums. As much as I was an old skool film curmudgeon, I have to admit, I’m already hooked on the digital camera. The convience blows away my film SLR and multiple lenses and film scanning, updates will be more timely and I will single handedly redifine the “high quality photography” tagline that coasterimage.com uses. (anyone notice how many sites added “high quality” to their site after we went live? Yeah, me too.) Need some examples? Then check out the collection of 11 general photos I took less than 6 hours ago at Dorney Park today (anyone else there for Coaster Madness?) I’ll eventually fit them into the Dorney Gallery but for now that’s the only place to see them. Clearly they’re among the best photos on this site and I dare say some of the best I’ve seen anywhere. Sorry kids, film is dead. Go tell Grandma.
I’m also working on (well, let’s just say “have already figured out”) a way to update the site from the road. I’m not sure I’ll impliment it this season, but it’s now possible for me to make updates to the site while actually out on coaster trips. I’m not sure that level of efficiency is necessary but don’t expect the month-long delay between park visits and site updates for the most part anymore. Just another step foward in making coasterimage the best it can be. I appreciate the interest more than you know. We now serve up roughly 15,000 photos a day (give or take a couple thousand) - more traffic than I ever imagined and it kicks ass to know so many of you like what we’re doing here. It’s only going to keep getting better.
As for that update to the special features section. You can expect it tomorrow, I just don’t have the time tonight. Check back for it. I also have Six Flags America pics coming within a week. It’s all good, baby. (smile)
New Roller Coaster Wallpaper Images
Jun 23, 2003Three new wallpaper images added. I also still have the addition to the special features section to do, but I have a new camera coming and want to use it to do this little project with. It’ll be a good chance to get a feel for the camera so expect that this weekend-ish followed closely by a new Six Flags America Gallery. After that I think the order goes - Carowinds and a Six Flags Over Georgia gallery update with some new pics. From there it’s wherever we decide to go in July. Summer’s just started, time to really get moving. Hope to catch a few of you a the parks this year.
American Adventures Pictures
Jun 18, 2003American Adventures Pictures added. It’s small but I wanted to get some new pics online. This takes us to just shy of 2000 photos. As far as I know this makes coasterimage.com one of the (if not THE) largest online collection of amusement park photos by a single photographer. Good stuff. I don’t have a ton of spare time these next few weeks so it may be another week or two before new photos show up - expect either Six Flags America pics or a Paramount’s Carowinds gallery. Between now and then I’m in the process of tweaking the coding of the pages a bit - nothing you’ll really notice. You can also expect a new item in the Special Features area sometime soon and probably some new backgrounds too before the end of the month. The updates aren’t stopping…not even close!
