Sesame Place Pictures

Jul 28, 2003

Another quick update that may be of limited interest - new Sesame Place Pictures. This gives coasterimage.com photos from 40 different amusement parks/locations! Not bad for one guy. I’ve said this before, but its a fact I’m proud of about this site. Some sites are nothing more than submission storage houses where people from all over the world send in photos. Some sites have photographers located in different areas of the country and all of them contribute pics. I do this all myself. I’ve been to all 40 parks that we have photos of and I’ve taken 99.9% of the photos on this site. Those that I haven’t taken, I’m in. I’m not sure any other photo site out there can boast that kind of coverage and personal touch at the same time. It’s something that I feel sets us apart from the norm. I do all the work on this site myself. Videos, music, wallpaper artwork, winamp skins, RCT files - it’s all me. I know no other site can offer that kind of complete, personal and quality attention to what they offer. It sounds a little like bragging (and maybe it is) but I’m proud of what this site has turned into and like to let our visitors know from time to time that this isn’t some thrown together thing. I don’t take a half assed approach and then expect you to want to visit. I try to offer the best quality and hope it provides a place for you to spend some time checking out something you enjoy. Enough of that…

The next major update will most likely be new photos in the Six Flags Over Georgia gallery. In the meantime some smaller things may or may not pop up here. I’ll probably do “behind the scenes” technical stuff that you’ll never notice (if I do it well). Only 2 weeks until the big August trip. Knoebel’s, 3 days at Cedar Point, Conneaut Lake Park and Waldameer Park this year. Check out our schedule for more info.

Carowinds Pictures

Jul 25, 2003

I finally got the Paramount’s Carowinds Pictures online. Even though the weather on that visit was rainy and dreary and the park closed 4 hours early, I still got some good photos. Hope you enjoy them. I also added a Top Gun wallpaper to our desktop section of the site. It’s a pretty nice aerial shot of the coaster. I’m pretty much caught up on photos (I do have some new Six Flags Over Georgia pictures to add to that gallery) so I guess it’s time to visit more parks.

On an unrelated, more braggardly note I’d like to point out that according to Alexa.com (the internet equivalent of television’s Neilsen ratings) coasterimage.com is current ranked at 136,039 out of all sites on the internet in terms of visitors. This puts us among the more visited park/coaster sites on the net today and certainly at the top of the list of sites that specialize in photo/videos/general imagery. It’s something I’m pretty proud of considering that we haven’t even been online for six months at this point. I can only attribute it to word of mouth (or is that ‘mouf’) and want to thank all of you who support what we’re doing here. If you like what you see, be sure to pass the word along to others who might also enjoy it.

RCT2 Downloads

Jul 20, 2003

The Carowinds pics are just around the corner. They’re scanned, they just need oraganized. I added a bunch of RCT2 files. Some good stuff there for your RCT players. Many little updates/fixes too - the kind of stuff, that you may not even notice.
I also added another ad type to the videos section. When you click the link to download a video, you may (not always) be taken to a full page ad. In 10 seconds the video download will proceed as normal. If you do not wish to wait, you can click the link (or ’skip’ button) at the top of the advertisement page to continue immediately. I apologize, but those videos are getting hit at ridiculous levels and I have to do something to cover the bandwidth or remove them. Removing them is the absolute last resort. You have no problem watching commercials on television, so an occasional commercial (that you can skip by even) to get our videos shouldn’t be too much. I just wanted to let everyone know what was up. That covers it. Those Carowinds pics will be online in a few days. Check back mid-week.

Six Flags America Pictures

Jul 12, 2003

Added Six Flags America Pictures. Fair warning - for some reason a few of these pics turned out kind of dark and with a really high contrast. I was a little disappointed when I started scanning and working on them. I’m not real pleased with the results but they’ll have to do for now - maybe I’m just a perfectionist? Just another reason I’m glad I’ve started the transition to digital. On the plus side this puts us well over the 2000 photo mark. Looks like Carowinds is coming up next…

Roller Coaster Tycoon Pinball Machine

Jul 4, 2003

Happy Independence Day. Today’s also my Dad’s birthday, so while you’re out having the time of your life this weekend, have one of whatever you’re having for him. (I managed to fit the word “have” into a sentence 3 times!) On to the updates. I know I promised Six Flags America pics by now, but it’s summer - I got things to do. Add to that a minor RCT addiction and the arrival of my pinball machine and you have your delay. They’ll be online in a few days. Speaking of the pinball machine, there’s a whole page I just added to the special features area about it. Pinball fans and RCT fans will both find it interesting. Plus you can download the winning entry that was responsible for that machine sitting here right now on that page too. I guess that covers it. Up next - pics, pics, pics!

I also wanted to mention that coasterimage.com was named “Site Of The Month” at On Ride Central. That’s a pretty sweet deal! Maybe take some time and check out the site, there’s some neat stuff over there.
