Vortex Video, Drop Zone Video
Apr 25, 2004Not one, but two new videos now avaiable for download! The Vortex video shows the world’s first six inversion coaster in all it’s glory - and hey, what other site is ballsy enough to put a 17 year old coaster in a “new” video? Our second offering is a Drop Zone video. This one is an unedited, single continuous shot of a complete ride cycle. Just something different to add to your collection of vids. I know you’re thinking “why these rides?” - well, just like in the galleries, I try to cover it all. Sure, Vortex is 17 years old and Drop Zone is an Intamin Gyro Drop and those can be found many places. However, I know not many sites offer anything beyond coasters and when it comes to video not many offer anything beyond the biggest, newest “marquee” attractions. If only 10 people end up taking a copy of those videos then I’m happy knowing I fed the habit of those people having a hard time finding videos of rides that not many sites want deal with. Consider it my personal karma insurance.
So what’s up with the big Dollywood trip? Well, it was originally planned for the 17th of April, but I learned that there was a car show of some kind in Pigeon Forge that weekend and on top of that an ACE event at Dollywood. I wasn’t going anywhere near the place. So we rescheduled for the 24th. Some crap came up and we had to nix that plan. Right now we have it pushed back again to May 1st. However, I can already see events in my personal life taking shape that will potentially cause us to cancel this trip as well. If that is the case, we’ll be replanning for a May 8th visit. I’ve just read too many outstanding reports of Thunderhead already taking it’s spot among the best wood the world has to offer and I can’t pass that up. Even if it is a 480 mile drive. Even if I have to cancel and reschedule 79 times. Even if I lose a major appendage and have to hobble my way down the major interstates of the south to get my ass there. The point is - we’ll be getting to Dollywood one of these weekends and the photos and videos will be online shortly after.
As far as the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff goes - my PC is finally running stable again after 6 months of turmoil. In the end, it turned out I had a dying power supply. But now everything is functioning just as I built it to and I’m even overclocking quite nicely now. I knew you’d care…
Check out the new videos and keep an eye out for Dollywood pics and stuff soon. I mean, I have to get there eventually…right?
Delirium Video
Apr 11, 2004The Delirium Video is now online. This update entry is short because I’m having serious PC issues and the update is coming via laptop. Happy Easter everyone - gorge on some sweets and check out the video. Be back with more video very soon!
Uncle Bernie’s Theme Park Pictures
Apr 5, 2004I’ve added the Uncle Bernie’s Theme Park Pictures from our trip 2 weeks ago. Go check them out.
Saturday at Kings Island was an experience. Lots of people there for the sneak preview. I barely pulled my camera out at all. In fact I ended up taking it back to the car and keeping my video camera in my pocket for the day. Maybe 30 pics tops. I’ll finish up that gallery and get it online when we visit the park again this summer. I did get some video, so let me sort it out and see what I can put together. I believe (from my initial look at what I got) that I’ll have a Delerium clip, a Vortex (go figure) piece and maybe even a simple Drop Zone video if I’m feeling chipper. We’ll see. Expect the first clips to start rolling in this weekend or so. Until then enjoy the Uncle Bernie’s photos.
New Server
Apr 2, 2004Ok, the server change went as smoothly as it could have. I did notice a few things not working and fixed them (like some of the galleries not loading). If you guys find anything out of the ordinary or something being wacky, drop me a line at webmaster@coasterimage.com and let me know. Counting all pics, html pages, graphics, etc - there are over 10,000 files on this site and with a server move like that, things can get overlooked. I’d appreciate it. I’d also appreciate some feedback on the new server. Is it slower or faster than the old one? Are you seeing lots of errors? Anything that seems different about the site that you feel compelled enough to share. Just trying to keep on top of things.
More importantly, we’ll be leaving shortly for Cincinnati and the Kings Island sneak preview day on April 3rd (a day before the season passholders even - nah!). Just wanted to thank Jeff & Stephanie again for being so gracious and hooking me up with the tickets. It’s a sneak preview day so who knows what will be running. I’ll probably take a few pics, but I already know I’ll be back in June for BeastBuzz so I’m not worried about getting a full gallery together on this first trip. I will try (as usual) to toss some sort of video together.
I’ll get the rest of the Florida photos online in a couple of days (as soon as we get back) and then follow that with video from this PKI preview (if I get some). Then we’re considering Dollywood later this month to check out their new Thunderhead coaster.
I also added a new “Trip Report & Personal Photos” thingy to the bottom of the 2004 Schedule Page. I’ll do these as often as I feel compelled to. Expect them to range from mundane to entertaining to informative to ridiculous. It’s just another way to streamline the info on the site and still keep the personal touch that I try to incorporate around here. If you’re particularly interested (or bored) go give it a look.
I’ll be back Monday with the new photo update. Be sure to stop by then and check it out.
