DelGrosso’s Amusement Park Pictures
May 31, 2004How’s this for turnaround? The new DelGrosso’s Amusement Park pictures are less than 12 hours old! We left the park around mid-afternoon on the 30th and here I am in the wee hours of the 31st uploading those very pics as our newest photo gallery! Included in those photos are some shots of construction of their new Crazy Mouse coasters. As fast as these things can be put up, these pics are probably already outdated! This update brings the site to over 2700 photos from 47 different amusement parks. That’s one hell of a collection.
We also hit Idlewild Park and Lakemont Park this weekend, so I’ll get those pics up in the next week or two. From there it’s off on our first week-long trip of the year in mid-June where we’ll finally get to sample Storm Runner. Keep checking back, it’s only Memorial Day but we’ve already hit 8 parks this season! There’s a whole lot more to come…
78 New Kennywood Pictures
May 26, 2004New photos! In fact, the Kennywood Gallery has been totally updated and reorganized with the addition of 78 new Kennywood pictures. Good stuff, make sure you take a look. Lots of new Phantom’s Revenge pics in there…nudge nudge.
Things have been pretty loopy with the site the past few days, but with this update everything should be working just fine so if you come across anything that doesn’t work, let me know because I overlooked it. Also, those of you that link to us anywhere beyond the main page will probably have to update your links - look into it. I renamed a bunch of things, moved some things…streamlined, baby! We’re good to go now.
And go we will! If you’ll be in the Central PA area this weekend and are considering any park visits, we’ll be hitting Idlewild, DelGrosso’s and Lakemont. The usual offers apply - we’ll take your picture, autograph your boobs, kiss your babies, do your homework, eat your food, apply your wart medication, whatever. Photos and videos from the trip should start trickling in next week sometime.
Lots Of Updates
May 21, 2004I know you’re probably here after the new Kennywood pics. You’re going to have to wait one more week. I took the opportunity to update and add some of the smaller things around here. The souvenir cups have been updated, there is a new wallpaper image of Volcano at Kennywood and I got around to adding a random photos 2004 page to the ‘Reports & Photos” area on the 2004 schedule page. I also did some other small things and some major housecleaning on the server. That should hold me over for quite a bit. I’ll have the updated Kennywood gallery online before we take off next weekend.
I also want to give the usual thanks to you guys buying gear. It seems like a few shirts go everytime I do one of these updates. I’d love to offer something special to those folks who support us by grabbing a shirt or two, but really haven’t come up with any good ideas yet. Maybe down the line sometime. Remember buying the shirt is only half the battle, you need to wear those things to the parks! (smile)
We’ll be hitting Idlewild, Lakemont and DelGrosso’s over Memorial Day weekend, so if you happen to be out and about in the area make sure you say hi. That’s it for this one, kids!
Kennywood Video
May 14, 2004This ended up turning into a hectic week for me. I hoped to have the Kennywood video up sooner than today - in fact, it was finished by late monday night. Oh well, it’s here now. I also added a nice little Thunderbolt Wallpaper for you KW fans. Expect the photos from the trip in the next week or two. Believe it or not, it’s actually more work to update a gallery rather than just create a new one. I got a ton of new pics and they all look great. The sun was really cooperating with me on Sunday.
After I get the Kennywood gallery updated, we’ll be off for a small memorial day weekend trip - looks like Idlewild, Lakemont and DelGrossos at this point. Keep checking the schedule pages for updates on where we’re going, where we are and where we’ve been. Other than that, not a whole lot going on. Enjoy the Kennywood video & wallpaper and watch for the pics to make their way online.
Dollywood. Kennywood.
May 6, 2004Dollywood. Kennywood. Consonant, vowel, double consonant, ywood. See how similar they are? Practically the same park in the head to head spelling face off. No difference to the untrained eye. None at all.
Dollywood is turning into my cursed trip of 2004. No go on April 17th. Reschedule the 24th. Crap came up on the May 1st weekend. May 8th? Nice try.
Here’s the deal. Dollywood has become the July trip. Bad in that…well it’s not happening now. Good in that it becomes a multiple park thing. A theme park orgy if you will. Instead of a quickie with Dollywood in the spring, we get a summer romp with Dollywood and a few of her neighbors. (my analogies just keep getting further out there, don’t they?)
More good news though (as if theme park orgies don’t beat all) - Kennywood becomes the early May trip. This weekend to be exact. That means new video from Kennywood as soon as next week and a big fat gallery update shortly behind the video.
Speaking of Kennywood, I need some help from Ohio residents. It seems that Kennywood billboards have been popping up around your lovely state. It also just so happens that these billboards prominently feature a coasterimage.com photo. It also just happens that my ego loves to be fed. Therefore anytime my photos end up 6 feet wide along side major roadways, I like to see it. If anyone stumbles by one of these billboards and cares to pass along the exact location, I’d appreciate it. Word has it that they’ve appeared in the Akron/Cuyahoga Falls area already and I expect them to also pop up in the Columbus area. If you spot one, let me know where - trust me I’ve got nothing better to do than drive 2 hours to take a picture of one of my pictures. Of course, if you happen to have a camera handy you could snag a quick pic and pass it along. First one to send me a decent photo with location info gets….well…I don’t know. Send me the photo/info and we’ll talk. At any rate, thanks to anyone who actually takes a few minutes out of their life to help me out on this one.
