Back From Canada
Aug 24, 2004We’re back from our last big trip of the year. 6 parks in Canada and Western New York. Good fun. I’ll try to get around to writing a big ol trip report for that much neglected area of the site…we’ll see.
Right now is the time of year I tend to slow down for a couple of weeks. Summer is wrapping up, kids go back to school, just a lot of things to do in my ‘real’ life. I should get back to pumping out updates by mid-September. I still have 7 park galleries to add, 4 videos in waiting, some special feature updates and God only knows what else. Plenty of new things to come all off-season long.
Here’s a few sneak preview photos from this most recent trip and a little peak into what to expect in the coming months:
Vortex (Canada’s Wonderland) - Pipeline Express 1, Pipeline Express 2 (Wild Water & Wheels) - Dragon Mountain, Beluga Whale (Marineland) - Silver Comet (Martin’s Fantasy Island) - Viper, Boomerang, Superman (Six Flags Darien Lake) - Whirlwind 1, Whirlwind 2 (Seabreeze) (note: links removed in site redesign - March 2005)
Until then get out there and enjoy the last few weekends of the 2004 season!
Paramount’s Kings Island Pictures
Aug 16, 2004If you only knew how crazy the last few days have been and how hard I busted this update out at the last minute, you’d have a whole new appreciation for things. It’s well after 4am as I type this. Kiss my feet, dammit! Seriously, I got all 121 Kings Island photos online and that’s all that matters. If anything seems to be not working correctly, don’t hestitate to drop me a line. I tend to get goofy at this hour. The thing is - I don’t even feel like I captured half of the park. I already know we’ll be swinging by in 2005 so that might be a good time to update things. For now enjoy the Paramount’s Kings Island Pictures - lots of great pics of Beast and Son Of Beast. This update blows us right past the 3000 photo mark and puts us over 3100 pictures on the site! Coasterimage still kicking serious ass in 2004. (smile)
We’re off later today for our big August “End Of Summer” trip. We’re heading north. To the great white north even! To make this trip even more exciting, we hooked up with a new coasterimagemobile a couple of days ago and where do you think the down payment came from? Why our vacation funds, of course. Heck, if potential border crossing issues weren’t excitement enough, now head out on a shoestring budget. Still not enough? Then let speedy boy drive over 1000 miles without the radar detector (illegal up that way). Looking for more? How about a trip without any of the usual third party suspects coming along? Just the wife and kids? Great! And what’s this? Still don’t have all the hotel reservation taken care of? Wonderful!
Yeah, that’s the trip ahead. I already have an 80 minute continuous loop of “Holiday Road” from National Lampoon’s Vacation burned to CD and ready to roll in the car. I suggest you find a few moments to check back during the week because any “from the road” updates should be most interesting to say the least.
At any rate, as you can probably tell, we’re playing this one by ear as we go along. I’m not sure exactly what we’ll end up hitting. Tentative plans include Canada’s Wonderland, Marineland, Martin’s Fantasy Island, Six Flags Darien Lake and Seabreeze. There’s a couple of other smaller places I’d really like to stop by too, but who knows.
Wish me luck…
Hypersonic XLC Wallpaper
Aug 9, 2004More little things that you won’t notice unless you have an unhealthy obsession with the site and a cool Hypersonic wallpaper to boot. I’m still working on the PKI pics - looks like I’ll have 120 in all…and I still feel like I’m missing a lot of things. That will be up sometime in the next week.
Minor setback schedule-wise on the big August trip, but in hardcore coasterimage fashion, we’re just stepping it up and hitting all the same parks in less time. We’ll be heading north and assuming they let me cross the border, we’ll be hitting a few Canadian parks and crossing back over for a few NY parks. So if you’re a fan (or curious) of parks in that area, then those aren’t too far off. Check back for the PKI pics - some really unique shots!
Conneaut Lake Park Pictures
Aug 2, 2004A bunch of little things this time. Look around the site and you’ll see some updated pages, some redone things and some new things. None of which are major enough to be listed here. I also added 4 new Conneaut Lake Park photos. Nothing huge, but I snagged a few new photos when we stopped by so I added them. Speaking of Conneaut Lake, check out the cool postcard available in their gift shop featuring a coasterimage photo of the Little Dipper. Good stuff when the parks use your work - it means you’re doing something right.
Speaking of which, I still haven’t gotten around to finding one of those Kennywood billboards with my JackRabbit photo in Ohio yet. If anyone can snag a pic (or at the very least, let me know where they spotted one of these billboards), I’d really appreciate it. Season is winding down and I’d expect the billboards to disappear shorty after. I really want a shot of one too. Sigh, it sucks to be an egomaniac.
Expect the next update (probably Kings Island), just before we leave for our next big trip at the end of next week. I have a somewhere between 100 and 150 pics of PKI, so it should be a nice big update.
