Server Change
Dec 31, 2004We jump into 2005 with a new server. Please let me know if you stumble across any broken files or other general weirdness. Also, if you’re feeling generous, let me know if the site seems significantly faster or slower for you. I know on my connection it’s WAY faster to load than the old server was. Good Stuff.
I’m still plugging away at the redesign (sick of hearing it, huh?) and will have another gallery update in the near future. Thanks to everyone for buying gear, checking out the site and keeping us among the most popular coaster/park sites out there. 2005 should be more of the same. Stick with us, the ride keeps getting wilder and the new site design will make it prettier as well. It’s all good!
Disney Christmas Fireworks Video
Dec 20, 2004I hope everyone is having a good holiday season. Still the same old story on the site - keeping it simple here and working on the new design. Tedious work that’s moving along slowly, but surely. (you know, there are a lot of photos hanging around here!) I have all sections done except for the galleries. It’s a matter of transferring the old pics and info into the new design and, sadly, it has to be done by hand. Not hard, but a level of mind numbing monotony that would kill most people. I’m about 10% done with the galleries and assuming I can suck it up and keep moving, I see no problem in hitting the 2 year anniversary to debut the new look and layout.
As for this update, Disney X-mas Fireworks Video. Old home video from November of 2000, Magic Kingdom, pretty castle, fireworks, filming for some Christmas show or something - you are there! Probably not too exciting unless you happen to be one of those weird ‘Disney People’ who enjoys this sort of thing. At the very least, if your Christmas this year involves sitting at home alone, then maybe you can play this and pretend you’re with friends in Orlando.
Pathetic, but I try to help. Look for some new photos after things die down with the holidays and the new year gets settled in.
Tiny Update
Dec 8, 2004It’s time for the 7th annual Amusement Link One Source Top Ten Awards (phew, that’s a mouthful!) - so if you like what we’re doing here take 2 seconds out of your life and stop on over and give us props by voting for us. Yes, I’m pandering for votes in a silly internet poll, sue me - and trust me, I’ve done worse. And hey, while you’re there check out the 1600 amusement park/amusement industry related links. You’re bound to find something of interest that you’ve not seen before. Thanks for the support.
I’ll have that new video up before X-mas. I’m still plugging away at the new site design (which in my not so humble opinion is quite nice), I’m still updating the old site, I’m catching crap from the gang over at Absolutely Reliable and on top of all of that I just received word that as of February 28th we no longer have a server - so I have three months to find another host. Woe is the life of the coasterimage webmaster…
Have fun during the holidays, go vote for us and check back for that new video sometime before Christmas.
Darien Lake Pictures
Dec 1, 2004I put the Darien Lake Pictures online for your viewing pleasure…as promised. Some good stuff there, but as I look through the photos from that whole trip - I’m a little disappointed. The weather did not cooperate one bit. Skies are grey, lighting is off. Turns out my little camera doesn’t handle adverse conditions all that well. I guess it’s finally time to drop the cash on something nice and step it up even more around here.
The redesign is coming along slowly but surely. I really hope I have the time/motivation to bust it out over the next month, but it is December. Right now, I’m sticking with having it done for the two year anniversary of the site, but it might pop up sooner if things fall right. Maybe I’ll get a sneak peek at the new look online one of these days.
I guess next up will probably be another video. Think old home movies, think X-mas, think fireworks, think the happiest place on Earth. Be sure to check back for that.
