Marineland Pictures

Apr 18, 2005

First off, my apologies for this update coming in a few days late. My birthday was last week and some of the time that would have been spent on the site was spent in other, more celebratory ways. But alas, the 58th park has been added to the photo gallery here. You can check out 49 brand new pictures of Marineland at your leisure. This effectively wraps up the backlog of 2004 photos and now finally lets me look forward to 2005 and new photos with the new camera.

Speaking of the new camera, the replacement came last week and this one works just fine. It’s nice to get an SLR camera back into my hands. I’ve been working with a small point and shoot camera since I made the move to digital in June 2003. It worked for what it was, but I like my lenses, my custom settings, the added creativity. It’s certainly breathed a fresh wind of creativity into me and I’m really anticipating getting this season started. 2005 looks to be another great year for photos.

On a totally unrelated note, be sure to stop by and check out the official Conneaut Lake Park website. You’ll probably see quite a few pictures that seem awfully familiar if your a regular coasterimage.com visitor. This is one of the few things I don’t mention as a egotistical “look what I did” sort of thing, but rather because I’m quite proud to be able to help the park out in such a way. If you know anything about Conneaut Lake Park, you may be familiar with the troubles the park has had over the past few years. I’m glad they were able to use some of what I had to offer to better their website and hopefully attract more visitors in the future. If you find yourself in the western PA area, be sure to stop by and support Conneaut Lake Park and at the very least be sure to check out the new website - it’s just oozing with coasterimage picture goodness.

I’m not exactly sure what’s next in the update pipeline. I still have 3 or 4 weeks before we become parkbound again, so I’ll dig y’all up something to fill the time between now and then. Be sure to check back in with me and in the meantime don’t forget to stock up on coasterimage.com gear for the 2005 season…and a big thanks to those of you who already have.

New RCT3 Parks

Apr 4, 2005

Just a quickie this time. I did a couple of Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 parks over the weekend. Might be worth a look if you’re a fan of the game. Rippling Hills started as a wooden coaster, but something just feels so wrong about doing a lone coaster in RCT3 so I added some rides and stuff around it and before I knew it I had a small park done. The other park is titled ‘Panini Island’ and features a very unique layout with two great coasters and the park entrance in the center of the park. Both worth a download and exploration if your an RCT fan. You just might pick up some ideas for your own parks.

I have my Marineland photos all sorted and prettied up. Now I just need to put it all together as a gallery and get it online. Expect those photos in the next week or so.

Besides that it’s just a lot of behind the scenes type stuff. You may have noticed the look of the site has already changed a tad since the new design went up. I’m throwing together new tunes for this year’s videos. We’re booking rooms and mapping out our early 2005 trips and already contemplating the late summer options. This is always the most exciting time of year. The parks are opening regionally, the weather is starting to break, last year’s stuff is all pretty much done and online - nothing to do but look ahead. Coaster website spring cleaning so to speak.

Enjoy the RCT3 parks, enjoy the imporving weather (although it is snowing here as I type this - it’s April, right?) and enjoy…ummm, other stuff too. I’ll have those Marineland pics up next week sometime. As usual, be sure to stop back and take a look.
