Camp Snoopy Pictures, Timberland Twister Video

Aug 25, 2005

New goodies are now online and awaiting the gawking eyes of the masses. This time we have new Camp Snoopy pictures and a nice little Timberland Twister video to go along with it. Go give them a look.

Not much else to say this time around. The 2005 summer season is winding down and now it’s time to look back and sort the whole thing out and then pass it along. No idea what exactly is up next. Keep an eye out.

Status Update

Aug 16, 2005

Just a quick status update for y’all. We did our last minute trip last week and ended up squeezing in three parks. It could’ve been five, but Rockin’ Raceway got rid of their kiddie coaster and have been reduced to pretty much an arcade and a go-kart track and Lake Winnie was closed the day we passed by - that makes two attempts at stopping by and missing both. Sigh. Rico no Suave.

We did hit Dollywood, NASCAR Speedpark and said goodbye to Six Flags Over Georgia’s Great Gasp on it’s final weekend of operation. Unfortunately, to do so we had to break the first rule of amusement park trips and hit the park on a weekend. Never again! We’ve visted 19 parks in 9 different states this year, so that’s cool. For the more geek minded out there, my coaster count stalled at #249 - but including material not yet on the site, I’ve photographed more than 300 coasters, so I guess I’m not the credit whore I like to think I am. There’s quite a few coasters I’ve passed up in lieu of just hanging out and having fun with the family. Speaking of which, let me play proud poppa and brag that my daughter hit #160 on this past trip - not bad for a seven year old! Little man hit #16. He doesn’t turn four until the end of September, so that’s pretty cool too.

We still have a couple of park stops planned before 2005 winds down, but those will be repeat visits (unless we squeeze something small in along the way) so I guess we’ll end the year around 20 parks. On par for the course.

I updated some smaller things that always need updated after a big trip - The Schedule Pages, The FAQ’s, The Map Index, stuff like that. I’m now sitting on 13 gallery updates and additions, no less than 4 new videos, a special feature or two and who knows what else.

As usual, we’re running into the time of year where I start getting pulled into other things, school starts for the kids, end of summer activites are scribbled all over the calendar in front of me. It may slow me down a little over the next few weeks, but I’m really going to try to keep the constant updates coming. I should have Camp Snoopy up in the next week and then there’s…well…at least another dozen parks and a couple thousand photos to sort through. You know where to look.

Timber Falls Adventure Park Pictures

Aug 8, 2005

Lo and behold, what is this!? It’s the 4th gallery update in less than 4 weeks! We’re sick like that. In fact, I’d say that recently we’ve been updating with great ferocity - mostly because I wanted to fit the word “ferocity” into this update summary. But yeah, I’m pumping them out.

What I’ve served up this time are new Timber Falls Adventure Park Pictures. You have to go check out the pics of Avalanche, the hills, the turns, the airtime. Come to think of it, Avalanche is quite ferocious and indeed gives its rides with great ferocity. So that’s cool.

What’s even cooler is that out of nowhere, we’ve just decided to do another coaster run. Totally a last minute thing. So last minute that the time between deciding to do this and actually leaving was less than half a day. Hell, by the time you’re reading this, we’re probably already on the road.

Where to? Good question.

We’re thinking of heading south. If I had to guess, I’d say you could expect to see us popping up in the next week in areas like Pigeon Forge, TN and Atlanta, GA. Hmmm, that sounds like Dollywood and Six Flags Over Georgia to my coaster enthusiast ears. I wonder what else is between here and there? No, seriously! I have no idea. In fact, after I finish typing this and uploading for all to see, I’m going to do some quick research and try to organize this puppy into something tangible. By the clock on my wall, I need to be outta here in around 9 hours and that means I also need to quit writing now.

Not sure if you’ll see updates from the road or not on this one. I’m not even sure when we’re coming back. We’ll probably just go until we run out of money and then head home. If you’re the more curious type, check back during the course of the week and see if I check in. Either way, I’ll get on even more updates as soon as we return - looks like next up is Camp Snoopy. Expect photos and another video to show up for that one. Wait until you see some of the footage I snagged of unbalanced cars just spinning and spinning through the layout…

…with great ferocity, of course.

Paul Bunyan’s, Tommy Barlett’s Gyrotron, RCT3 Files

Aug 2, 2005

Ain’t no update like a coasterimage update ‘cos the coasterimage updates don’t stop! (quit pointing and laughing - you’ll know you’ll be singing that crap for the next week)

Indeed the updates don’t stop. I promised a few smaller, rapid-fire updates and here they come. My suggestion is to put your helmet on and duck for cover.

First off is the addition of the smallest gallery I’ve ever done - Paul Bunyan’s Adventure Golf. This one weighs in at a whopping 2 photos. That’s what happens when a place no longer operates.

Secondly, I added a short feature covering Tommy Bartlett’s Gyrotron. It’s a little indoor place in Wisconsin Dells with some unique offerings. Certainly worth the few minutes It’ll take to check out.

Finally, there’s new Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 files. Now that Soaked has hit the scene, my interest is there again. For how long? Who knows?

That’s what’s new this time around. A bunch of little stuff. So love it already! Check back in a few days, I have Timber Falls photos almost ready to go and if you ask me, Avalanche is the best coaster in Wisconsin.
