Cedar Point Pictures

Feb 27, 2006

Another gallery update hitting you directly between the eyes! This time we have more than 120 new Cedar Point pictures. Lots of really good stuff from closing day thrown into the mix. There is no rhyme or reason as to the placement of the new pics, so keep an eye out for photos with a 2005 photomark on them - those are the new ones. This update makes the Cedar Point gallery the largest on the site and the second gallery to top 300 photos.

There’s a bunch of really, really nice big panoramic shots included. As always, you can click the link in the photo description to see an extra-large version of the panoramic shots. Speaking of which, I just wanted to point out that if you’re using newer versions of Internet Explorer, be sure to turn off image resizing to view the panoramic photos at their full size - otherwise IE shrinks the image to fit your monitor. It’s possibly the dumbest feature ever. To turn it off go to: Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and then find the listing labeled “Enable Automatic Image Resizing” under the Multimedia section and make sure you uncheck the box.

It’s a tip I keep on the FAQ page, but wanted to point it out here up front for this update. I often wonder how many people click to see the full size version of the panoramic photos and wonder what the big deal is because Internet Explorer resized the image to fit their 800 pixel wide monitor. That’s quite a loss! For instance, this update includes a panoramic photo of Cedar Creek Mine Ride that’s more than 3500 pixels wide. What’s the point of viewing such a high resolution image if your browser is just going to squish it onto your monitor? Enough about browsers and panoramic photos - just remember to change IE to display them in full size if you like to look at them.

Also included in the update are a dozen photos of White Water Landing in its final day of operation. The park has since removed the ride to make way for their 2007 attraction. There’s also a new page for Demon Drop which you may or may not know is listed for sale and almost certainly has a limited lifespan at the park as well.

Basically, there’s a lot of great photos added so even if you’ve checked the gallery in the past be sure to give it another look.

I also added a new shirt to the merchandise available. Check the Gear page and scroll to the bottom for a gander at our new “Fanboy” shirt. Might be a fun wear at your favorite park this summer. Note it is available in black, but the black T’s do not have the back design. That could be a plus or minus depending on your preference.

So here we are rolling into March. The offseason is almost over for those of us who suffer an offseason. I still have 5 or 6 park/gallery updates to add before we get on the road for 2006, so look for things to keep moving at a good pace. If I update every other week, I should have my entire backlog of photos cleared out just in time to start the 2006 season in May. Sounds like a good plan. Nothing solid for 2006 yet, but keep an eye on the Travel Schedule section of the site - things will be posted there as soon as they’re set.

Until then enjoy the Cedar Point photos.

Indiana Beach Pictures

Feb 11, 2006

Better late than never, right? Nah, that’s not true. One of the things I hate most is promising something and not delivering. I wanted these Indiana Beach photos online at least a week (if not more) ago. Sadly, I keep getting tied up in other things that I just have to take care of. Accept my apologies and enjoy the new Indiana Beach pictures. 74 photos of a great little park including some really nice ones like the sunset shot of Hoosier Hurricane.

Other than that there’s not much more to say this time around. I finally picked up a new hard drive which I will be installing as soon as I finish uploading this update - so no more laptop work!

I also have 133 new Cedar Point photos from closing day 2005 ready and just waiting to be slipped into the site. Plenty of ‘money shots’ in the new batch. A bunch of White Water Landing on it’s final day of operation, a couple of really nice panoramic shots, some Halloweekends stuff - just a little of everything. So expect those to show up next.

After that I still have Michigan’s Adventure, Kennywood, Six Flags Over Georgia, Geauga Lake and a new special feature to get online before we start the 2006 season. Don’t expect the updates or new material to stop anytime soon.
