Cedar Point Video

Oct 25, 2006

I’m baaa-aack! Cedar Point was a great time this past weekend - even with the large crowds on Saturday. We had a ton of fun and I recommend Lighthouse Point to anyone considering a stay at Cedar Point. Good Stuff.

But enough with the pleasantries, le’s get down to business. Go download the new Cedar Point Video…now! It’s a little departure from the normal coasterimage.com video, so you’ll definitely want to take a look. Just be sure to stick with it. The few people who’ve seen it up to this point all had the same reactions:

1. What the hell is this?
2. Ohhh…
3. Wow! That was pretty cool.

Hopefully everybody who downloads it has the same reaction or I’m gonna have to find some new people to test stuff on.

I’ll have the full set of photos up soon enough. I took roughly 2 gazillion and need to sort through it all. In the meantime, check out this long-winded trip report I wrote up. There’s a bunch of photos included there if you’d like a little preview.

And while you’re over at CoasterBuzz, be sure to score the latest podcast (dated October 23rd). We recorded at the Point and had a really good time doing it and I think it shows. Funny stuff.

So that covers it. Weekend was cool, video is up, photo previews in the trip reports, listen to the podcast. That should be enough for now. I’ll get those new Cedar Point photos up as soon as possible. Be sure to check back.

Holiday World Pictures

Oct 20, 2006

I promised the next update before we left for Cedar Point and a quick glance at the clock tells me that we have a few hours before we need to go - so I guess I met the deadline. This time around I’m serving up 72 brand new Holiday World pictures. And yes, there’s a bunch of their new coaster for this year - The Voyage. (which I might add is quite possibly the sickest coaster out there…and I mean that in a good way)

I also have a pretty funky new Holiday World Wallpaper to check out. I only did it in one size, but it should be useable for most common screen resolutions. Just play with the wallpaper settings in windows and see what you like best. It’s pretty cool though. I’ve had it up on my desktop for about a week and I’m still diggin’ it.

So I guess we’re off to spend the weekend at Cedar Point in a few hours. Some cool Saturday morning ride time courtesy of the BooBuzz event - so that’s cool. If you’ll be in Sandusky this weekend don’t be afraid to stop and say hello. It’s cool.

I’m definitely coming back with video this time. I got a neat little thing worked out and now I just need the footage from the park to put it all together. A little departure from the normal coasterimage video, but some really great stuff. Certainly something to keep an eye out for. I’ll also be getting Maverick construction pics and looking to round out the collection elsewhere including LOTS more Halloweekends stuff. Maybe a little something special…who knows?

Also wanted to give a big, “Thanks!” to those of you grabbing gear from us. Always nice to know people are willing to support the site in that way. I do appreciate it.

Aside from that, not much else. We’re off to Cedar Point for the weekend - hope to see some of you there!

Beech Bend Amusement Park Pictures

Oct 7, 2006

Let me just start by apologizing for the delay in this update. It’s that time of year where things normally get crazy in real life and I normally slow things down. I tried not to do that this time and it happened anyway. But things are getting into a groove and we’re back in action.

With that ugliness out of the way, you can go check out the brand new Beech Bend pictures. Good stuff including the new-for-2006 Kentucky Rumbler. All the reason you’ll ever need to visit Kentucky. There’s 62 new photos there so take some time and look around.

I also humbly offer a new Kentucky Rumbler wallpaper. With fall in full force what better way to beat the season than a big ol’ roller coaster greeting you every time you boot up your computer? Lots of good desktop images available if you haven’t looked around that section of the site for a while.

So where do things stand? I have a whole batch of Holiday World photos that I will have up before we head up to Cedar Point on the 20th. Then after we return from 2 days at the Point (including BooBuzz), I’ll get the new media online (new videos, shots of Maverick, Halloweekends stuff - maybe a little special sumpin’ sumpin’) as quickly as I can turn it around.

From there it’s a winter of hardcore site maintenance. I know I’ve let things slip a little, so I plan on cleaning the site up quite a bit. I’ll get the maps onto each gallery’s main page, update all the info that has changed across the site, neaten up some of the sloppier things and even add some new stuff.

Normally the offseason is a chance to clear out the backlog of pics I’ve built up, but this was a low travel year for us - only 11 parks this season. So it’s a perfect chance to get the site lean and mean again because as it stands now, 2007 is shaping up to be one of the biggest years since I started this site. Our preliminary plans at this point have us hitting a lot of parks and a lot of new rides… and Orlando! But I’m getting ahead of myself…

Enjoy the Beech Bend photos. Look for Holiday World photos to show up within two weeks. Look for us at Cedar Point and then look for new things from Sandusky to show up on the site shortly after that. We pretty much have your October and November coaster craving covered. Don’t forget to stop back for your fix.
