2008 Amusement Park Souvenir Cups
In a move that always makes me chuckle when I do it, I’ve updated the Souvenir Cup special feature. Yeah, it started as a tongue-in-cheek bit of silliness and still isn’t meant to be taken too seriously, but I stick with it. If I’m going to get these damn cups, I might as well put them to good use, right? Give it a look if you appreciate things like that.
For those of you that don’t, you’re probably thinking, “What the hell!? I mean, didn’t this guy just visit something stupid like 25 parks and all we get is pictures of those dumb overpriced cups?”
Well, you’re right. I suck.
Actually I don’t suck. I rock…and right now I’m rocking hard. I’m sure you remember how I keep mentioning I want to give coasterimage.com a makeover after this season. Turns out I started messing around and before I knew it, things were moving right along. I found myself at a crossroads - keep plugging this out and begin future-proofing the site or lay off and do regular updates and then have to do them all over again when I change the site.
I chose the former.
So while it seems like not much has happened for the past 11 days, a lot actually has. In fact, I hope to have at the very least a preview of the new photo gallery up sooner than later. The gallery is the bulk of the site. If I get that, I can continue doing updates and work around it and have the whole site done before I know - essentially working both ends at the same time. That means we all win.
And speaking of all winning, the new gallery (as it stands - nothing is set in stone) features higher resolution photos (good for you) and a format that’s roughly 10 times easier for me to update (good for me - and you). This means bigger, better photo updates coming faster than ever.
So put on your patience hat for a little longer and before you know it, we’ll not only start rolling out the new photo gallery (and new site over the months following), but also the 23 parks worth of media that I still have to put online.
We have a deal? Good.

Days 6, 7 & 8 - Back Home
Sorry for the lack of updates the last two days. What can I say? A couple of late nights, a lot of driving and things just caught up with me. Since the last update we visited Hard Rock Park, South Of The Border, another Nascar Speedpark and Camden Park before getting back home Saturday evening.
I’ll spare all of the details for now. Just understand that I took a ridiculous amount of photos and a little video along the way. I’m now sitting on enough material between the last trip and this one to keep updates coming for quite a while. Here’s the visuals on the past three days:

Day 5 - Four Parks
First off, a recap. Day three at Carowinds was a blast. We had tons of fun and I took plenty of photos. But when we returned to the hotel, we found no internet service. I tried multiple resources, but nothing was falling into place for me. Sadly, I was unable to share my jubilation over our spectacular day. The next morning you got the short apology as I was hitting the road.
There was no update for day four because we really didn’t do any park-related stuff…and because I was fried. Nothing to update means no update, right?
So here we are on day five of the trip and today we hit four parks. Nascar Speedpark, Carousel Park, Pavilion Nostalgia Park and Family Kingdom Amusement Park. We spent the day doing the tourist thing and swung by all four of those locations along the way. I took photos all along the way as well.
It’s late, so I’m cutting this short again. Tomorrow is Hard Rock Park…or as my son has been calling it, Rock Hard Park. Gotta love that. I’ll have a solid update tomorrow. Until then enjoy this photo from just a few hours ago at Family Kingdom:

Day 3 - Carowinds
Sorry this is coming later than normal. The internet service was not working here last night. I’m typing this as the family is pressuring me to get on the road to Myrtle Beach.
Carowinds was a good time. The park wasn’t crowded at all. I don’t have any pics ready to share right now (said lack of internet service and time), but I’ll get that together with the next update.
Gotta drive!

Day 2 - Ghost Town In The Sky
Day started with rain but cleared by early afternoon. Rode Ghost Town’s insane chair lift to the park in a heavy drizzle and stiff wind. Cliffhanger is still not running, but we had an outstanding time at Ghost Town regardless. I’m not sure what I expected, but the park exceeded those expectations on all levels. Certainly a great diversion sitting not-quite-halfway between Dollywood and Carowinds. Make sure you give yourself an afternoon to swing by if you’re ever traveling that way. You won’t be disappointed.
