Three New Desktop Wallpapers

Mar 15, 2008

Joker IncWallpaper. Not the flowery patterned stuff in your Grandma’s bathroom. I’m talking the digital, for your computer, roller coaster variety. I got the hookup. Three new wallpapers for your grubby little hands (and desktops). And it gets better…

In my ongoing quest to deliver items of relevance to Coasterimage.com visitors, I noticed that more and more of you are stopping by with widescreen monitors. (yeah, I’m watching you)

So starting with these new wallpapers I now offer a third download resolution (1440 x 990) that should work quite nicely for you folks leading the widescreen revolution. So be sure to head on over and check out the new wallpaper - I happen to be quite fond of the Mamba image. It’s so colorful and shiny.

In other news it looks like some of our travel plans are coming together. I’ll be getting the travel info online in the schedule section a little later, but right now it looks like we’ll be getting to Indiana Beach to check out their new Steel Hawg coaster early in the season along with standard stops at Kings Island. We’ll also be heading east to sample Hersheypark’s new coaster, Farenheit. And maybe stopping by some old favorites - Knoebels, Dorney Park, Six Flags Great Adventure…things in that direction.

By mid-summer we should be heading south again to invade the brand new Hard Rock Park in Myrtle Beach with copious stops along the way. As fall rolls around there’s a good chance we’ll show up at the usual fall hangouts - Holiday World and Cedar Point.

But it doesn’t stop there in 2008…nuh uh. A week at Walt Disney World in October is practically etched in stone. That’s a much needed return visit - my Disney gallery is so outdated that it’s embarassing. It’ll be nice to update that one. Then there’s been some whispering about a Dollywood stop around Thanksgiving…but you didn’t hear it from me.

After that comes the complete overhaul/updating/cleaning of the website. But that’s a long way off - there’s a ton of parks, coasters and rides to hit in 2008. Play now…work later.

New Holiday World Pictures, Video & More

Oct 11, 2007

Goodies! This time I have new Holiday World Pictures, a brand spankin’ new Holiday World Video and a cool new Voyage Wallpaper that reminds me of an old time postcard image for some reason. Plus, there’s a new Raven Panoramic photo and a couple of new 3D pictures from Holiday World as well. Be sure to check it all out - you can’t go wrong with Holiday World goodness.

I think I finally have all of the real-life business behind me and this should be the first in a string of constant, frequent and numerous updates that will probably last pretty much until next spring. How’s that for a promise?

You also might have noticed more and more pages converting over to the ‘new’ look. I’m putting those out as I get time. Slow and steady for now. Right now the site is a bit of a mish-mosh of recent style changes. It will be slowly working itself out to one consistent style over the next couple of months, so be patient.

Not much else new. We still have one more trip before this season ends for us. I have tons of photos, still more video, a couple of special features and a new 2007 DVD on the way in the coming months. At least 10 ‘Courics’ worth (the right people got that) of material to add, so keep checking back.

And if that’s too much of a hassle, then sign on to the mailing list and we’ll let you know when something worth looking at gets added. Cool?

Waterville USA Pictures, Goliath Pictures

Jul 20, 2007

This time I have two small updates for you. But that’s cool because two small updates equal one regular update, right?

Anyway, I added new Goliath Pictures to the Six Flags Over Georgia Gallery. Even if you’re not interested in the photos, stop by and marvel at the number of times I typed the word ‘airtime’ in just 13 pages. Truly a feat to behold…and the pictures are pretty nice too.

I also added new Waterville USA pictures. We stopped by pretty late and much of the park was closed, but even with the impending darkness and no one riding I manged to get some good coaster shots.

Speaking of which I added a new wallpaper of Waterville USA’s Cannonball Run coaster. It’s a really great shot and probably one of my favorite wallpaper images in a long time. Definitely a classic.

I didn’t have a lot of time to work on updates this past week which explains the two smaller updates. I’m now sitting on a backlog of 10 parks/locations with more park stops lined up in the coming weeks. Lots of new material to be added to the site.

Keep checking back, there’s a ton of new stuff to be added.

Celebration City Pictures, Fireball Video, Ignite The Night Video

Jul 6, 2007

We’re off again for another weeklong amusement park trip, but first we have updates. Celebration City becomes the 81st park added to the photo galleries and there’s 72 new Celebration City pictures to enjoy. But the fun doesn’t stop there.

There’s also two new videos from Celebration City! One features the super-intense flat ride, Fireball in action and the other covers the park’s Ignite The Night show. It’s a 20 minute show billed as the midwest’s largest laser & fireworks spectacular. So be sure to give those a look while you’re here.

That would be a pretty sweet update as it stands, but I’m tossing even more into the deal. How about a brand new Ozark Wildcat wallpaper? It’s a fun one too.

But wait, there’s more. I updated the souvenir cups section with the offerings from our latest trip. Yeah, it’s silly.

I think that’s everything for this update. We leave later today for Atlanta. We’ll be stopping by Six Flags Over Georgia on our way to Florida. Over the next week we’ll be hitting a handful of parks - Alabama Adventure, Lake Winnie, Six Flags, Waterville USA and some others. If you happen to be in that neck of the woods, keep an eye out for us and feel free to stop and say hello.

That’s it for now…I’m off to Florida!

Cedar Point Photos, Maverick Video & Pictures

Jun 4, 2007

With this update we hit a bit of a milestone. One that I’ve been closing in on for a while. I added the handful of new Cedar Point photos I had to the Cedar Point Gallery and with those additions Coasterimage.com now officially features more than 5000 photos. As corny as it sounds, I’m pretty proud. The first photos on this site were taken in February 2001 and here we are in June 2007 five thousand photos later still plugging away. If it weren’t for everybody visiting the site there’d be no reason for us to be here after 6 years still bringing you the best roller coaster and amusement park photos around. Good stuff.

And just in case you missed it last week - don’t forget about the Maverick Video and the Maverick Pictures from opening weekend. (I promise that’s the last mention) - In addition I added two new Maverick Wallpaper images.

Also of interest is the mailing list. If you had signed up before last week, you were the first to know about the Maverick media we had online. Even before Screamscape posted it, even before CoasterBuzz had it listed, even before the photos showed up on RCDB - mailing list members had the info in their inboxes first.

Our YouTube channel is another good place to find out about new videos the second they’re added, so you might want to subscribe to that as well.

As far as what’s up next - I still have new Geauga Lake photos to add and I scored some video during our visit as well. Not sure if that will make it to the site or be a 2007 DVD exclusive. Once I have a chance to go over the footage, we’ll see. After that we’re off to Missouri to hit up another half dozen parks in the middle of the month. Check the schedule page for more info.

That about covers is for now. Friggin’ 5000 pictures, man!
