Interactive Theme Park Maps

Jan 16, 2007 - Trackback

Here comes the first of the sweeping updates to the site. I’m betting you thought I forgot about you, but what I was really doing was tons of research and nosing about. Why? So I could update the Interactive Maps to reflect the most current info. Parks that no longer exist have been removed, new ones have been added, websites updated, locations determined - the whole deal. The maps now feature more parks than ever before and the info is more accurate than it ever has been. It’s a really great resource for planning trips and this is the perfect time of year to be getting things together. If you plan on hitting the road looking for amusement park fun this year, be sure to give it a look. Even if you don’t plan on hitting the road, you just might get tipped off to a park in your own backyard that you were unfamiliar with. At any rate, there’s a ton of great info - geographic park locations (with maps you can control) along with links to all the park’s websites and photos from the parks we’ve visited. More than enough to get you started on your 2007 plans. Go give the maps a look.

Speaking of which, we’re slowly putting together a gameplan for this upcoming season and it shouldn’t be too long before I have some 2007 info to add to the Travel Schedule area of the site, so keep an eye out for that.

Something else to keep an eye out for is new photos. What’s that, you say? Yeah, I know, but here’s the deal. We visited Geauga Lake in late 2005 during their Halloween event and when I got home, I hated the pictures I had. It was the first time I’d shelved and entire trip worth of photos. Then comes last week. I’m setting up a database of all of my photos for easy access (I have more than 19,000 pics including park and personal photos) and I come across those Geauga Lake pictures and they’re not nearly as bad as I thought. In fact, some are quite nice. So you can expect those to go online in the next week or two.

After that, it’s just a matter of bringing all the galleries up to date, touching up the loose edges and then starting the 2007 season in April. You can also expect a little surprise or two along the way like the Kings Island video I tossed out there last month. I have a few other things that never made the site that would be fun to share. Be sure to keep checking back, I’m slowly coming out of hibernation, I’ve got the Wii-fever out of my system and things are going to start picking up as we head toward the 2007 season. Until then…
