Stone Mountain Park is located 16 miles east of downtown
Atlanta. Why include it on coasterimage? Two reasons. The first being
that it does incorporate some amusement park elements with a few attractions
and a themed area. Secondly, I often see people asking what else there
is to do in the area if they travel to Atlanta to visit Six Flags Over
Georgia. I think Stone Mountain falls right in line with what we tend
to add to the special features section.
Stone Mountain is 3200 acres of outdoor fun. The mountain itself is the world's largest mass of exposed granite and the north side feature the world's largest high relief carving. Breathtaking scenery, miles of trails, gardens, lakes, forest and activities such as fishing, hiking, camping and tennis can all be found at Stone Mountain. The park also features waterslides, a scenic railroad, the "great barn", a riverboat, a nightly laser shaow and way to many other attractions to continue listing here. The photos in the gallery show just a small portion of what's available at the park. So if you ever find yourself in Atlanta with some time to kill consider a stop by Stone Mountain Park - I'm sure there's something there for just about everyone. Visit
