The highlight of our big August 2002 trip (for me
at least) was a trip to the famed Coney Island. It was everything
I hoped for and more. I just love NYC and Brooklyn was cool as hell.
The drive from our hotel in Jersey through Manhattan and into Coney
Island was nothing short of a religous experience. The three parks
that make up Coney Island were everything I'd expect from a classic
park situated in such a great city. The Cyclone is THE classic roller
coaster and delivered even beyond my heightened expectations. Very
forceful. Totally out of control. An insane ride. Everything it
should have been. The boardwalk was a blast, the food was great.
Basically if they'd let me pitch a tent and just live right there,
I'd do it. Plus, in the movie "The Warriors" (one of the greatest
of all time), the Warriors home turf is Coney Island and those are
the kind of bonus points you just won't get anywhere else. What
I'm saying in a nutshell is drop whatever you're doing right now,
get in your car and drive. Go...now! |
