Dollywood
is quite simply, a very charming park. All the hospitality you'd
expect from your Aunt who lives in the south that you see once every
couple of years but still treats you like an old friend who she
sees every day. That's the feeling this park envokes. You'd be hard
pressed to find a friendlier staff and any park in any location.
The park itself isn't packed with rides (though there are plenty)
but rather packed full of little shops, shows and attractions that
are just 'homey' in feel. I've never seen an amusement park show
so consistently full with an audience so consistently appreciative
of the performances as I did at Dollywood. I've never seen shop
employees who seemed genuinely happy that you stopped by. I've never
seen shops that offer items with such homecrafted feel - the loudly
colored trinkets with a park logo slapped on are few and far between.
Then after you get past all of that there is still plenty to ride
including a line-up of 4 roller coasters including the wooden great,
Thunderhead. You'd be hard pressed to have a bad day at Dollywood
and passing through the Pigeon Forge area of Tennessee without stopping
by to say hello would be a crime. |
