Geauga Lake opened in 1888. It
existed in eastern Ohio for over 100 years offering guests thrills
and fun - a great small park. In 2000 Six Flags bought the park
and rechristened the park 'Six Flags Ohio'. In 2001 Six Flags
also bought Sea World Ohio which was situated right across the
lake, combined the two parks and gave it the moniker of 'Six Flags
Worlds Of Adventure'. Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure gave visitors
the best of both worlds. Top notch thrill rides on the old Geauga
Lake site and wildlife fun of the former Sea World site. This
lasted for three seasons until suddenly and surprisingly, Six
Flags sold the park to Cedar Fair (owners of several parks including
local competitor, Cedar Point). The sale went down less than two
months before the 2004 season was to begin.
Cedar Fair began putting their
own stamp on the park immediately and for that reason, I chose
to keep the Geauga Lake gallery seperate from the Six Flags Worlds
Of Adventure Gallery. This gallery will serve as a current representation
of Geauga Lake while the Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure gallery
will serve as a time capsule of that 4 year period in the park's
history.
Check out the Six
Flags Worlds Of Adventure gallery if you're looking for media
from that time frame.
