| SYNOPSIS |
Growing
up in Western PA made Kennywood my "home" park as a kid. School
trips, family getaways, a day with friends - they almost always
ended up at Kennywood. Many people in that area (and especially
at those "too cool" ages) dismiss Kennywood as the crappy little
local park and opt for trips elsewhere for the real deal. I have
to admit to that kind of thinking for most of my formative years.
However, these days I see things much differently. Kennywood is
one of the best traditional amusement parks around with a great
history and charm that is second to none. I've really grown to like
Kennywood and we always make at least one stop there each summer
no matter how far away we may be residing at the time. The collection
of classic wooden coasters is top notch, Phantom's Revenge is modern
engineering at it's finest and Exterminator offers a coaster experience
for all ages. The park itself is a great place to spend the day
even if you're not into the rides. The people watching at Kennywood
alone is worth the price of admission. Sharing the experience with
my children makes it even better now. A visit to Kennywood should
be on every enthusiasts "to do" list. |
