Six Flags Darien Lake came off to us as one of the
more 'charming' parks of the Six Flags chain. It's a small park
in a nice setting with some really good coasters situated around
a small lake. I really wish the weather hadn't cut our stay short
on our only visit. Superman Ride Of Steel is a mirrored clone of
the coaster of the same name at Six Flags America and delivers just
as good a ride. Viper is an older multilooper that still gives a
really fun ride. Predator is a wooden monster and the line-up is
rounded out with two production model coasters - a Vekoma Boomerang
and SLC. Add to that an enjoyable collection of flat rides and you
have a winner. I should also mention that Six Flags Darien Lake
still offers Fascination. (those who know the game are going, "ooohhh")
All in all, I'd say it's one of the better Six Flags Parks and really
has a feel that none of the others I've visited seem to have. Check
it out if you're ever in Western New York.
On April 9, 2007 this park was one of several in the Six Flags chain sold to PARC 7F-Operations Corporation. It is now known as Darien Lake Theme Park Resort.
