What can I say about these two coasters that you probably don't already know? For one park to contain such a dubious duo of wooden monsters is quite a thing.
The Beast was built in 1979 and still holds the world record for the longest wooden coaster. It is a legendary coaster covering 35 acres of land and whipping through the trees at speeds of 65 miles per hour.
Son Of Beast was built 21 years later and is the only wooden coaster in the world to feature a vertical loop. It is also the tallest and fastest wooden coaster on the planet. In fact, it holds the current records in speed, length, height and drop for wooden coasters worldwide.
This video shows both coasters in action and consists of mostly shots taken from areas that are not normally accessible by park visitors.
Here's your chance to see what goes on in the woods behind Kings Island - the screams are real! As a bonus, there is additional footage of the park's new for 2006 ride, Avatar, included in this video.
Update - In July 2006, just a few weeks after this video was taken there was an incident on Son Of Beast which caused the ride to be closed for the remainder of the season. The park has since decided to remove the loop. This video remains one of the last of the ride in action with the loop still in place.
