TODAY'S TRAVEL DAY 13 - NOTHING DAY

Greetings from the 16th largest city in the USA - Louisville, Kentucky. At least that's what the brochure says. I'll take it as truth and suggest you do the same.

Today went nowhere fast. We woke up to darkening skies and by the time we got checked out of the hotel and into the car the rain had started. Still undaunted, we headed toward the Indianapolis Zoo. In the time it took to drive the 1.6 miles from the hotel to the zoo, the rain started pouring and lightning streaked across the sky in what was becoming a familiar sight during this trip.

With little hesitation we decided to skip it. Sure, there was a kiddie coaster to check out and the whole family tends to enjoy the animal thing, but the idea of a totally 'off' day was sounding good. So we headed straight for Kentucky and I thwarted God's plans to kill me at the zoo. (see yesterday's update)

We arrived at the Comfort Suites in Louisville just before 4pm with the time change. Nice hotel. It's just three months old.

Everyone was wanting a bite to eat so we unloaded the car and headed out for the White Castle we saw on the way in. 20 of those tiny burgers later and we were back in our room with nothing to do. We considered a preview visit to Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom, but decided against it. Lazy would win today.

At some point we all crashed. I believe it was a little before 7pm.

The next thing I knew, I was awakened by the sound of my son getting sick and White Castle food hitting the floor. No idea what brought it on, but he was warm and suffering a bit of an upset tummy.

We're just taking a wait and see approach with how he feels in the morning. I'm not going to drag him anywhere if he's not up to it. Plans for tomorrow were to zip on over to Holiday World for the day, but a quick check of the forecast shows a high of 95 with a heat index of 106 and the possibility of strong thunderstorms throughout the day. Alternately we could switch with Kentucky Kingdom where the forecast isn't any better, but we'd be a few miles from the hotel and could skip back over if needed.

No idea what tomorrow will bring. Our plans were to finish strong with 4 stops in the next three days. Here's to hoping my little man feels better in the morning, not just for the trip, but because it sucks to feel like crap.

Since we didn't to anything today, enjoy a photo of our hotel room below.
